Big Day!

Charlie had quite the evening tonight. He took his first step. I knew it was coming. He stands unassisted all the time. He even dances while just standing there. He just wasn't confident enough to take a step. Tonight he was so excited and took a step towards me. My baby is growing up!

Nick and I also gave him his first hair cut tonight. Well...we trimmed around his ears. He doesn't have a ton of hair but it was still getting long. He looks so cute. I will post pictures!

Training Wheels Off!!

Braeden finally let us take his training wheels off tonight. FINALLY!! He has been so timid when it comes to riding a bike. The other kids in the neighborhood all have known how to ride, without training wheels, for a couple years now. He just runs around with them and doesn't worry about his bike. Tonight we were out front and convinced him to take them off. One of the little neighbor boys cheered him on all night as he struggled to learn. It was so cute to listen to his friends tell him that he can do it and to not give up. By the end of the night he was doing really well. Hopefully we can keep it up and he will be flying down the sidewalk with his friends in no time!

19 DAYS!

Only 19 days and my baby will be 1! I just can't believe that we are that close. This past year has gone by so quickly. Charlie is growing up so fast. He is so independent now and I am really enjoying that. It is nice to know that I am still needed some though! He is starting to let go when holding on to things and just stand there. He hasn't taken his first step yet but I know it is close. He sure has a special relationship with his siblings. Emma and Braeden just adore him and love to play with him. Charlie even likes to wrestle with Braeden. It is so darn cute because he grunts as Braeden is tackling him down. I just wish I could bottle this time up and save some for later. It goes by too fast and I want to cherish every second!

Misfit

Do you ever feel like you just don't fit some where and you don't know where you will fit? Well Nick and I are going through that right now. We are really trying to find a church that we will fit as a family. I am Catholic and Nick is Presbyterian. We come from two opposite spectrums. Of course each of us is most comfortable at our own church. We believe that it is so important for our children to see us all go as a family to church. In the Catholic Church Braeden will start 'Generations of Faith' classes this fall, CCD. Nick and I feel we need to decide where we belong as a family before this big step for Braeden. I have attened the Presbyterian church for the last few weeks. Everyone at the church is great and I feel welcome there but I just don't feel comfortable there. We are going to spend the next few weeks at the Catholic Church and then discuss Nick's feelings at that time. We don't know where to look next. This is such a difficult time for both of us. We want a place where we can both go and feel comfortable. Any insights would be appreciated? We are looking for any ways to make this next transition an easier one! Our next thought is finding the happy medium in all this. But what is the happy medium when it comes to religion?

Swim Lessons

Emma started swim lessons at the YMCA two weeks ago and has been doing so well. It is so great to see her growing up. I was afraid that she might not want to get in for lessons. I thought I would have the kid that sat under her towel the whole time. She sure proved me wrong. She was so excited to start and got right in. She even listens well to all her teaches. I am sure it does help that Auntie Alli is one of her teachers.

Kids say the cutest things!

My kids always seem to amaze me with what they say. It is the little comments that are the cutest and the ones you don't want to forget. Tonight at supper Braeden had a great conversation:

Braeden: I want to play hockey.
Us: Okay...well you will have to wait until next year. Then we will have to get you into skating lessons.
B: I don't like to skate.
Us: You have to skate to play hockey.
B: I don't know how to skate.
Us: We will put you in lessons.
B: Hmmmm
Us: Why do you want to play hockey?
B: Because Jacob and CJ got medals for playing hockey and I want to get a medal.

Too cute!

Emma was in the tub tonight and I was soaping her up. I said lift up your arms so I can get your arm pits. She then says..."don't forget my leg pits." I cracked up and asked her to show me her leg pits. Yep...behind the knees. TOO CUTE! I was laughing so hard.

I need to document these statements so that I don't forget them. They are so priceless.
